How to Start and Complete the "Deep Cover" Mission in Starfield

12 September 2023

Deep Cover in Starfield is a side quest that most players stumble upon entirely by chance. If you're a fan of the criminal life and thievery, chances are you've already picked up this assignment on your own!

How to Start the Deep Cover Mission in Starfield

Now, let's delve into a guide on how to start the Deep Cover mission for those with a clean conscience. However, to get what you want, you'll need to tarnish your reputation just a bit.

To activate the mission, you'll need to steal something in the Jamison zone, ultimately leading to your arrest (and don't try to bribe your way out with credits!).

I stumbled upon it entirely by accident, and I'll tell you how:

Immersed in the wonderful atmosphere of The Well and wandering into Anderson Bianchi's shop, my attention was immediately drawn to the exquisite helmets on display! As you might have guessed, I couldn't resist and decided to pick one up :D

By the way, finding this shop is incredibly easy—just head straight once you enter The Well.

If you haven't unlocked this location yet, be sure to check out this guide.

Talk with Commander Ikande

After your arrest, you'll find yourself on board the UC Vigilance and you'll have to speak with Commander Ikande, a member of the United Colonies System Defense. He will ask for your help, which involves gathering information against the Crimson Fleet. Don't worry - there won't be any fights this time.

After the initial conversation, head to the second one to get more details from the commander. Also, talk to the lieutenant, who will promise you a reward for providing evidence.

Traveling to Mars, Cydonia

Follow the quest marker and first speak with a girl named Saoirse Bowden. Don't expect any freebies - pay her credits and follow her lead to find the second person.

As it turns out, Adler Kemp (our next target) has a bone to pick with a guy who owes him 3000 credits. Agree to help him in order to get the information.

Following the quest marker, locate Karl Fielding and talk to him, either politely or not, to collect the debt. We decided not to tempt fate and just paid for him - you can try other options. But keep in mind, the guy claims he has no money on him at all, so is it worth resorting to violence?

Once you've either received or secured your money, return to Adler and hand over the credits - done, the mission is considered completed! Right after finishing, the next mission, "Rook Meets King," will appear in your mission journal, continuing this storyline.
